Liza Minnelli with French Culture Minister,
Frederic Mitterrand at her award ceremony in Paris.

Liza Minnelli has been awarded France's most prestigious
award, the Legion d'honneur for her contribution to
the world of showbiz, but above all her work to fight
HIV/Aids. The 65 year old Cabaret singer looked
as elegant as ever as she jetted into Paris to receive
her award. Liza was fashionably dressed in a
black patterned top with bright green silk cuffs.
Liza lit up the room with her bright dazzling
Hollywood smile and shimmering dark brown eyes!

French Minister for Culture, Frederic Mitterand
was the ideal person to present the global superstar
with the award. He appears to be a huge Liza fan!
"High priestess of musical theater, you are the
contemporary incarnation of the versatile talent,
American-style," he added (Reuters News 2011)

To a cativated audience Minnelli thanked
the French people for honouring her:

"What I am really, really so honoured about,
is to be a part of France, to be a part of the city
and the country of my dreams," she said.
"Thank you for watching me, thank you for
caring about me, thank you for giving this
wonderful tennis game of life that we are
going to get."(Sky News 2011)

Imagine it was 40 years ago since
Liza was awarded an Oscar for
her role in the film Cabaret!
She really learnt from the best
in showbiz, given that her own
mother was the legendary,
Judy Garland! Liza and her
mother used to put their own
TV show together! However,
Liza has had her own personal
struggles alledgedly with pills
and drink. Many a celebrity
has been in a similar situation,
Liza has overcome these problems.
She was deeply affected by the
death of her close friend,
Michael Jackson, back in 2009.
She too was a child star, I suppose
both of them could relate to the
loneliness and isolation that fame
brings!

Liza is not one to wallow in self-
pity!As she'd say herself,
'The show must go on'!
Liza is one of the best
show-women out there! She
goes from strength to strength!
She continues to tour the world
with her wonderful 'jazz hands',
lively dance routines and infectious
laughter! In fact, ever the professional
act, the award event was only one
aspect of her trip! She came to the
home of Cabaret to perform!
After picking up her award, Minnelli
performed at famed Paris music hall
The Olympia, the venue where her
1969 appearance became a live album.

Clearly Liza's not one for hanging around,
she's a busy lady these days! There's a lot
of love for this glitzy star!! She's got a bubbly
personality, quite the extrovert but in a charming
way! Liza is charisma! You've got to admire her
charity work! It's nice to see a celeb give something
back to society! She seems to be a level headed person
with a great awareness of global issues.

(Photo by WireImage) Liza the performer!!!

think her versatility as a singer/actress
makes her who she is! She's also quite
the comedian, recently she appeared
on The Graham Norton Show (BBC TV)
a man in the audience had made a life-like
Liza Minnelli puppet!

She was quite flattered that someone had taken
the time and effort to make this creation! The
attention to detail was remarkable! The Liza
puppet had the same short black hair,
long eyelashes and colourful outfits!
It was a shame that the owner of the puppet
didn't give it to Liza as a gift!
Maybe next time she's in London?

If  you like a good musical, I say go and
see Liza! See the show-woman at work,
the stage is hers' to stand on and perform
to the masses! Long may she remain
one of the best female actresses of all time.
She is a living loving Hollywood legend!
